Here is the team behind SGPE. We work restlessly with our esteemed Advisory Board to brainstorm topics and design events that bring together the top executives and individuals in the UK’s pensions and investment industry.

Stephen Glover
Founder & Director
Stephen has spent over the last nearly 20 years designing and running over 140 conferences for asset owners and their advisors across 5 continents.
Among the highlights were developing the Sovereign Investor Institute’s first ever conference in Africa, and interviewing the conference’s two keynote speakers, Tony Blair and Mark Mobius, as well as on a similar scale, creating the Private & Public Pensions Summit here in the UK, almost uniquely bringing together senior executives from LGPS, private DB and DC schemes, to compare notes on common challenges at an industry level.
Before founding SGPE, Stephen served as Director of the Global Fixed Income Institute for 14 years, founding the OTC Derivatives Summit and running it through its 10th anniversary, and directing the European Investment Roundtable for 5 years.
His career originated in investment management which culminated in founding and serving as President of Smith Barney Global Capital Management and, for the commercial theatre, producing the world premiere of An Enchanted Land by Dale Wasserman (playwright of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest), to rave reviews at Riverside Studios, London.
Lily Burford
Head of Events
Founder and Director of L&L Events and Head of Events at SG Pensions Enterprise, Lily is a leader in sustainably focused event management, committed to delivering impactful and environmentally responsible experiences. With over a decade of expertise in event production, she has developed a specialised focus on the investment, education, and not-for-profit sectors.
Holding a degree in event management and additional qualifications in ethical and sustainable event practices, Lily strives to create events that minimise environmental impact while maintaining the highest standards of excellence. Her deep appreciation for the outdoors aligns seamlessly with her commitment to sustainability, allowing her to collaborate with like-minded clients to produce meaningful, purpose-driven events.
Lily joined SG Pensions Enterprise to further align her expertise in event management with the company’s mission of driving positive change in the pensions and investment industry. Passionate about creating engaging and thought-provoking industry discussions, she works closely with SGPE to deliver high-quality events that foster collaboration, innovation, and responsible investment practices.

Thomas Glover
Technical Manager
Tom oversees the technical aspects of the company, including managing our website and our social media. His experience in technology helped brainstorm the artistic development of our website, for which he has been called a “Tech Wiz” by friends and family.
Away from SGPE, Tom recently graduated with a Higher Second Class Honours degree in Drama from the University of Exeter, enhancing his passion for theatre-making and he has a desire to one day become a Director and/or Stage Manager.
